THE DHOW
BRAND IDENTITY | MOBILE WEB DESIGN | EDITORIAL
Background
The Dhow is a multipurpose events and conference complex, based in Muscat, Oman. The idea is that it would become the city’s main business and cultural hub.
Brief
The ask was to create a name, logo, mobile website, and overall brand identity for this new venue.
Solution
To be honest, I knew NOTHING about Muscat, Oman before this project. However, after thorough research, I came to learn that Muscat is Oman’s port capital and the economy is dominated by trade. Muscat was the main port for all ships heading out of the Gulf to India, China and East Africa. The Arabian ships used during these trade rounds were called dhows, built by Omanis themselves. Muscat was the link connecting these oceans and counties. Furthermore, The Dhow represents a junction between different words and cultures. The circles used throughout the branding represent the uniting, linking and exchanging of different cultures and ideas.
